Mikayla Draughon is still waiting on a bone marrow transplant to treat her sickle cell disease, but she’s not just sitting back and waiting on that to change.

Mikayla Draughon, 14, spent weeks in the hospital as her search continues for a Black bone marrow donor.

Fourteen-year-old Mikayla Draughon was hospitalized for weeks this fall because she can’t find a Black bone marrow donor who matches her. Draughon has sickle cell disease and needs a transplant to hopefully cure the disease.

Mikayla has been in the hospital more than 100 times. And she’s only 13.
